Kindle, goodreads, and sharing poems
I have a "What I Did During Our Year of Dumpster Fire 2025" post in mind, but we're not there yet. Where are we, then? We're at a point where my writing is more widely available!
You can now get my work on Kindle. That means you can also gift my work to someone else on Kindle. Yes, it's still available on Itch.io and through my ko-fi. Some people would prefer not to buy from Amazon, others will find it easier on Kindle, and I'm keeping options open.
You can also find those books on goodreads now! I'm working on getting in with their author program, but for now you can find my work on goodreads by searching for "LK Nesse".
I admit I'm nervous about reviews. I don't think everyone would love my work. If that's what I was aiming for, I wouldn't be putting enchanted forest stories and American cinquain poems out there. Ideally, I think reviews are important for helping people find what is right for them and avoid what isn't. I've read reviews for multiple forms of entertainment that have helped me decide I was definitely interested in something even when the reviewer was very clear about not liking it. If the review has more "these are the problems" instead of "this sucks and they should never make anything again", it may be that what they didn't like is exactly what you're looking for. I don't expect all reviews to be glowing praise, but I would like them to be fair. I'm not sure if I'm more afraid of bad reviews or never getting any reviews.
And why are there only three books? Didn't I put four out this year? Yeah, there was a little problem with one. Art Grimoire was first mistaken by the system as being a blank journal, which wouldn't be accepted on Kindle. I sent an email explaining what a solo journal rpg is, some changes were made, and the system says it's live now. It's just not showing up. I may need to wait a few more days, but you can still get it in the other two places. (See? Options!)
I said I don't really expect sales of Little Things, and that's true. I promise I'm not living in some delusion in which everyone suddenly loves poetry as long as I'm writing it. The American cinquain format has really reignited my love of writing poetry, though. I don't get to share samples of my work often, and especially not on Instagram. Maybe I should share samples here in the future, but they still wouldn't fit well on social media platforms. It's one thing to share a link to where a sample can be read, but a whole other thing to try to stuff the text of a sample into a post where things just weren't designed for that.
Poems in Little Things are short. Yes, I chose the title because the poems are little things. Most of them fit well into squares that can be posted in places like Instagram, so I'll be sharing some over the coming days and weeks. I'll leave one here that I didn't make a picture for.
I do
not know if this
will be read by others,
so I focus on writing for
myself.
